What is SUDC?

SUDC stands for Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood. SUDC is a category of death in children between the ages of 1 and 18 that remains unexplained after a thorough investigation, including an autopsy. Most often, a seemingly healthy child goes to sleep and never wakes up. At this time, we do not know what causes SUDC, how to predict it, or how to prevent it. It is very rare, occurring in 1 in 100,000 children. Every year, approximately 450 children are lost to SUDC in the United States.

Do you plan to create a foundation to honor Miles?

We do not plan to create a foundation. If you’d like to support an organization that is important to us, please visit https://SUDC.org to learn more about the SUDC Foundation. The SUDC Foundation’s mission is to promote awareness, advocate for research, and support those affected by SUDC. The SUDC Foundation runs solely on private donations as public funding is focused on other sudden and unexplained deaths, such as SIDS. The Foundation also provides support services to grieving families, free of charge.

I haven’t received stickers or a Miles for Miles shirt. How do I get them?

For a limited time, tshirts, sweatshirts, and more are available for purchase. Please place your order by August 12, 2023 at Miles for Miles Storefront. We will open the storefront again next June as the annual Miles workout approaches. Please contact Mara or Joe if you’d like stickers.

I have a question that isn’t listed, who do I contact?

Please contact Mara or Joe if you cannot find an answer to your question.
